Architecture and landscape design

Nothing beats architecture like the Hogwarts castle! This castle has archs, corbeled archs, posts, lintel, a truss, columns, domes, atriums, i can go on for days. I feel like there is almost no better example than the Hogwarts castle! After reading the lecture this was the first thing I thought of when reading some of the things. Its so breath-taking and I wish i lived there!

Landscape in Paint and Perspective Systems

For this weeks lecture I choose these two pictures because they are both beautiful but they have two different feels two it because they are two different seasons. The first one is a snow covered mountain which looks beautiful the color usage is great the white gives it a cool but comforting feel to the artwork. The second painting seems like its set in the spring, the water is really calm and relaxing and the choice of colors is warm and captivating in my opinion.

Sculpture and Earthworks

Although there were no art vocabulary words this week this still relates to what we learned in the lecture this week. It may not be figures of a historical moment nor of historical people, but its a great work of modern art which represents famous faces for the youth. This sculpture was part of a disney exhibit in Japan. The turn out was amazing and i think that an art work like this is amazing because it doesn't have color but just looking at it its beautiful. The scale and proportion of these sculptures are massive in size! The artist created this artwork with fine detail.

This is a very unique earthwork. I have to admit I did get this image from google, but if i was on a plane and saw this down below I would get very excited. The stars are all a little different so the symmetry may not be perfect but the artwork is definitely beautiful.

Narration

Being a newbie at the whole Art world/Industry I still do not know alot of things. The thing I always find amusing is that when you learn something new it always pops up a few days after you learn it. After going through the Vocabulary list and then seeing it in advertisements for Britney Spears next single, Thought it was pretty awesome.
In this section we also learned about traditional photography. This photo was taken in August of 1976 in Portugal. This is a photo of my Mom and Dad along with my cousin. That was then, and this is now;
My Beloved mother who is battling lung cancer and undergoing treatment to remove 8 tumors found in her head <3 she is the love of my life and I will be by her side until the end. Still as beautiful as the first photo just with a hint of age.

My Father, who works hard to provide a easy life for his wife and kids now much chunkier from the photo above.

This is my beautiful cousin Grace still looking ravishing as ever raising two kids going to school full-time and running a multimillion dollar company.

I think its amazing to see the changes in peoples life cycles when comparing their old photographs with current ones. It's amazing that we all keep growing, time never stops for anyone.

Light and Shade in Medieval and Renaissance Painting

I chose this painting by Van Gogh because it looked like it related to what we were learning about still life. These old pair of boots, look worn and damaged but they were chosen to create this beautiful piece of art for whatever reason Van Gogh had.
The funniest thing is that this was ALWAYS my favorite toy when i was little, and the fact that it was the first thing I thought about when learning about three dimensional art Rocks! you could turn any of these normal pins into a 3d object.... amazing!

Groups Post

I chose this abstract artwork because it represents real-world imagery of the battle of gettysburg. When learning about the battle this image is a typical image which is shown to depict the battle.
This painting goes with what we were discussing about the realistic paintings. What we see through the painting looks exactly like what we would see through our own eyes. Its what my professor calls a "super" real painting.

Human Head Post

I saw this painting and it automatically stood out for me. Its like a cross from Andy Warhol to Vasily i believe. Its so dynamic and unbelievable. Its representational because you can clearly see two dogs in the painting. This can also be seen as a painterly piece of Art.
This is an image of many images. I saw this because when one looks at this they automatically just see the titanic. But in this tragic image its not only the titanic but its also an image of those who attempted to escape the titanic. Also an image of the iceberg which took the ship to the bottom of the ocean. This painting can also be seen as a linear painting.

Content and Iconic Art

This i see as content art because there is so much going on, even though it can be seen as iconic as well because of the saint in the artwork. The mother assisting her children in the forest, the father attempting to help her because night fall is coming soon, there is so much content in this painting that you can take it as you please.

I choose this photo because its iconic to our generation. This artwork has become a symbol for change and its icon is now our president, which just so happens to be the first african american president.

Week 2

This photo of a sidewalk with a big chunk sitting on the side can be seen as two dimensional. Im not sure if I am correct or not but this can probably be seen as the chunk to the right being positive space and the chunk missing as negative space.

This photo is a very large scaled woman who is apparently flexible =). What I liked about this sculpture is that it was proportionate to the rest of the body though it was made in a very large scale. The texture of this is fine and smooth

Lisbon Art

(Photo #1 Stumbled upon this artwork on my way to my office in Lisbon this morning)
(Photo #2 Farmers life in Salreu, Portugal)

In Photo #1 we see a mural of fisherman wives getting their husbands boats ready to go to sea to fish. The artist used lines and colors to perfection. As you can see the lines in the sun is what tries to tell us the rays of the sun are blazing and the color helps us identify that by making the internal part of the sun red.

In Photo #2 i have no idea who this kid is but i thought this was very different so i had to take a photo of it.
